Suzuki Brunei has cut the price of the Suzuki Alto 660cc VXL (AGS) from B$12,800 to B$12,500. At that price the Alto is the cheapest new automatic car listed in Brunei, B$300 below the Renault Kwid RXT. It is a kei car: a five-door hatchback 3,395 mm long, with a 658cc three-cylinder petrol engine, four seats and Suzuki's AGS automatic gearbox. Suzuki Brunei positions it for city commuting, school runs and as a first car. The Alto is sold by Boustead Sdn Bhd, trading as Suzuki Brunei, and is on display at every Suzuki Brunei showroom.

The car
The Alto is built to Japan's kei car size limits, the class of small cars that are capped in length, width and engine size. It is 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall on a 2,460 mm wheelbase, weighs 670 kg and has a 125-litre boot. The 658cc naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine produces 29 kW (39 PS) and 56 Nm and drives the front wheels.
The VXL's gearbox is AGS (Auto Gear Shift), Suzuki's automated manual: a manual gearbox whose clutch and gear changes are handled by the car, so there is no clutch pedal and it drives like an automatic. Drivers used to a conventional automatic may notice a brief pause in acceleration as it changes gear.
Equipment includes air conditioning with a heater, a touchscreen audio unit with front speakers and two airbags. The warranty is 3 years or 60,000 km.
Where B$12,500 puts the Alto
Only one new car listed in Brunei costs less: the Hyundai Grand i10 1.0 Manual at B$12,450, which has a manual gearbox. Among automatics, the next cheapest are the Renault Kwid RXT at B$12,800 and the Hyundai Grand i10 1.2 Auto Base at B$12,999. Before the cut, the Alto and the Kwid RXT were the same price.
The catch: four seats, not five
Like other kei cars, the Alto is built to seat four. The two automatics closest to it in price, the Kwid RXT at B$300 more and the Grand i10 1.2 Auto Base at B$499 more, both seat five. For a solo commuter or a couple that makes little difference, but a family that sometimes carries three passengers in the back will need a different car. Within Suzuki's own range, the cheapest five-seater is the Suzuki Celerio 1.0 GL (AGS) at B$16,580, B$4,080 more than the Alto.

PMV Brunei 2026: the official dealer price list
The latest edition is the "PASSENGER MOTOR VEHICLES (PMV) PRICES ISSUED BY CAR DEALERS AS OF 20TH AUGUST 2026", a list issued every quarter. Each figure is a ceiling, not the price you will pay: it is set high enough to cover that model and trim with nearly every available option, and banks use it as the upper limit for car loans, so showroom prices usually sit below it. The list can also lag the showroom as new models arrive and others are discontinued. Our full guide to reading the PMV Brunei 2026 list explains what to check before relying on any figure in it.
