Forthing Friday in Brunei: EV and REEV Coming Soon with Lau Motors
Lau Motors has been appointed the official distributor of Forthing in Brunei, with effect from October 2026, and the Forthing Friday compact SUV will be among the first models it brings in. The Friday is coming in two versions, the fully electric Friday BEV and the range-extended Friday REEV, and both are listed as coming soon. Prices have not yet been announced. The BEV produces 150 kW and 340 Nm from a 64.4 kWh battery, with up to 400 km of range, and every Friday carries a 6-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty.

The car

Forthing is the passenger car brand of China's Dongfeng Group, and the Friday is its newest SUV. It is a compact crossover, 4,600 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,680 mm tall on a 2,715 mm wheelbase, with a 480-litre boot. The BEV has a 14.6-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument display.

BEV or REEV

Friday BEV: fully electric, with 150 kW (204 PS) and 340 Nm, a 64.4 kWh battery, up to 400 km of range and DC fast charging at up to 80 kW.
Friday REEV: a range-extended electric car. The wheels are driven by electric power, and a 1.5 litre petrol engine works as a generator to recharge its 31.9 kWh battery, so it can keep going on petrol when the battery runs low.
The REEV's battery is about half the size of the BEV's, which points to a shorter electric-only range, with the petrol engine making up the distance.

The catch: half the comparison is still missing

For the REEV, only the engine size and battery capacity have been confirmed so far. Its power output, electric-only range and charging speed have not been published, and neither version has a price. That means the choice between the BEV and the REEV cannot yet be made on the numbers that usually decide it: price, electric range and total running cost. Anyone weighing a Friday against other electric SUVs should wait for Lau Motors' price list and full Brunei specifications before deciding.

Warranty

Every Forthing Friday comes with a 6-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty, plus 8 years or 160,000 km on the battery and the powertrain, whichever comes first. Exact terms are confirmed at the point of sale.

PMV Brunei 2026: the official dealer price list

The latest edition is the "PASSENGER MOTOR VEHICLES (PMV) PRICES ISSUED BY CAR DEALERS AS OF 20TH AUGUST 2026", a list issued every quarter. Each figure is a ceiling, not the price you will pay: it is set high enough to cover that model and trim with nearly every available option, and banks use it as the upper limit for car loans, so showroom prices usually sit below it. The list can also lag the showroom as new models arrive and others are discontinued. Our full guide to reading the PMV Brunei 2026 list explains what to check before relying on any figure in it.
