PMV Brunei 2026: The Government Car Price List, and How to Use It Properly

The PMV list is Brunei's official quarterly car price list. The August 2026 edition covers 39 brands and 386 model and trim lines with a Showroom Price (SRP) and an On-The-Road Price (OTR) for each. It is a useful reference and a rare piece of price transparency in this region. It is not, however, the price you should expect to pay, and it is not a complete picture of what is on sale. Here is what it is, where it falls short, and how to read it.

Four times a year, the government publishes the prices that car dealers themselves have submitted for the passenger vehicles they sell. Each line carries the brand, the dealer, a model and trim description, an SRP and an OTR figure. The current edition is dated 20th August 2026 and runs to 13 pages.

Credit where it is due: very few governments anywhere publish a consolidated, dealer-by-dealer new car price list at all, let alone quarterly and free to download. For a market as small as Brunei, that is a real service, and it gives buyers something most of our neighbours do not have: a single official document naming every dealer and a price against every car it covers. Part of the reason AutoPasar exists is that this document is the closest thing Brunei has had to a market-wide price reference, and buyers deserve something that goes further.

We compare the PMV list against what dealers tell us directly, every month, across the whole market. Three patterns show up consistently.

Dealers submit their standard list prices. What almost every dealer in Brunei runs, almost all the time, is a promotion below that list price, and the PMV document does not capture promotions. The gap is not small. Across 28 models and trims we could match one to one against prices dealers quoted us in August 2026, the PMV OTR sat on average around B$12,000 above the dealer's promotional price.

All dealer prices above were quoted to us by the respective authorised dealers in August 2026. Promotional prices change, so treat the differences as illustrative of the pattern, not as today's quote.

To be fair to the list, it is not wrong everywhere. For brands that run few promotions, it can be spot on: Toyota's PMV figures matched what NBT quoted us to the dollar on several models, including the Wigo at B$23,926 and the Camry Hybrid at B$68,839. The problem is that a buyer reading the PDF has no way to tell which brand they are looking at: the one where the list is exact, or the one where it is B$29,000 high.

The list is only as current as the most recent dealer submissions, and the market moves faster than a quarterly cycle. In the August 2026 edition, five brands still appear that dealers have confirmed to us are no longer offered new in Brunei: DFSK, Peugeot, Daihatsu, Changan and Jaguar. Jeep also appears, and its dealer has told us only leftover stock remains. At the same time, at least eight brands now selling new cars in Brunei do not appear at all, including Deepal, Avatr, Jetour and Denza, and the GWM family badges Tank, Ora, Wey and Poer (the list shows GWM's Haval models only).

Put the counts side by side: the PMV list covers 39 brands and 386 model and trim lines. Our own dealer-verified catalog, at the time of writing, covers 41 brands that are live in the market and 400+ models and trims currently on offer, confirmed brand by brand with the dealers themselves. The two documents disagree not because the market is ambiguous but because one of them is a quarterly snapshot of submissions and the other is checked continuously.

A 13-page manually compiled PDF is going to carry the odd slip, and this edition has a few worth knowing about so you do not take them at face value: a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 with a showroom price printed as B$1,192,765 against an OTR of B$122,572, a Range Rover Evoque with an SRP of B$753,230 against an OTR of B$76,800, and a Proton Persona whose OTR is printed below its SRP. These are clearly typesetting errors rather than real prices, and they are easy to make in a document this size, but they are one more reason not to quote the PDF as a source of truth.

1. Treat the OTR as a ceiling. It is the most you should expect to pay before asking about promotions. If a dealer quotes you above the PMV figure for the same trim, ask why.

2. Check the edition date before relying on it. The date is in the title of the PDF. A list from two quarters ago can be materially out of date on both prices and models.

3. Confirm the brand still has an active distributor. Presence on the list does not mean the cars are still being brought in. Ask the dealer, or check a source that verifies availability directly.

4. Confirm the trim lineup with the dealer. What a dealer submitted last quarter and what sits in the showroom this month are often different sets of cars.

5. Use it for orientation, not negotiation. It is excellent for a first sense of where brands sit relative to each other. The number you negotiate from should be the dealer's current written quote.

The PMV list told us what Brunei's car market needed next: the same market-wide coverage, but verified with the dealers themselves, updated monthly rather than quarterly, and carrying the promotional prices people are quoted in the showroom.
