The car
The new CX-5 rides on a longer wheelbase than before, which Mazda uses for more cabin space, easier rear-seat access and a larger cargo area. It is a five-seater with 4:2:4 split-folding rear seats, per the Mazda brochure. Both Brunei variants share the same powertrain: the 2.5 litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine and a six-speed automatic, with retuned suspension aimed at ride comfort.
The equipment highlighted at the Brunei launch includes a large touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a Bose 12-speaker sound system.
