How a special order works
The process is dealer-described and runs in stages. A 30% deposit is required to proceed, with the options and specification arranged in a meeting with the dealer's management. The factory then allocates a production slot for that model, and delivery takes roughly 3 months from that date, followed by roughly 1 month for JPD certification for use on Brunei roads. If the specification is customised beyond the standard Brunei spec, even by a single feature, the car runs an additional technical inspection with JPD of roughly another month after arrival. All in, the dealer puts the wait at about 4 to 5 months.
The catch: no price list exists for the order-only cars
None of the twelve special-order models has a published Brunei price, so the 30% deposit is committed against a price arranged with management, not a list figure. The only reference points the dealer offers: the previous-generation GLC 63 sold here at around B$240,000, and a current 63-series car would land, on the dealer's rough indication rather than any quote, somewhere around B$350,000 to B$400,000. At that level the deposit alone is a six-figure commitment, made 4 to 5 months before the car exists in the country. The order route is real, dealer-confirmed, but it is a route for a buyer who already knows exactly what they want.
Mercedes models no longer offered in Brunei
The special-order route covers cars the dealer can bring in but does not stock. A separate set of Mercedes models is not offered in Brunei at all or has sold out: the C 200 and C 300, the entire EQ electric range, the S-Class, the G 500, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, the AMG SL 55 and the AMG CLA 45 S among them.
