GWM sells three self-charging hybrid cars in Brunei: the Ora 05 HEV, the Haval H6 FL HEV and the Tank 500 HEV, all through Berjaya Sdn Bhd, the authorised GWM dealer. A fourth, the Haval H7 HEV, is announced for Brunei but not yet launched. None of them plugs in: each pairs a petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery that charges on the move. Prices run from B$29,900 for the Ora 05 HEV to B$76,800 for the Tank 500 HEV, and every GWM hybrid carries a 7-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty plus 10 years or 1,000,000 km on the engine and transmission.

Ora 05 HEV

The Ora 05 HEV is the smallest and cheapest GWM hybrid in Brunei, a compact crossover at B$29,900. It has been on sale since September 2026 and was officially launched to the media in October 2026, an event AutoPasar attended. GWM's Hi2 hybrid system pairs a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission, for a combined 164 kW and 476 Nm. It sits alongside the petrol Ora 05 rather than replacing it; both versions are covered in our GWM Ora guide.

Haval H6 FL HEV

The H6 FL HEV is the hybrid version of GWM's mid-size family SUV, at B$39,900, producing a combined 179 kW and 530 Nm per the Berjaya brochure. It is front-wheel drive, dealer-confirmed. Berjaya has engaged Universiti Teknologi Brunei as a technical partner to study the H6 FL HEV's real-world efficiency and driving range under Brunei conditions.

Tank 500 HEV

The Tank 500 HEV is the largest and most expensive GWM hybrid sold here, a seven-seat SUV at B$76,800 producing 258 kW and 648 Nm per the Berjaya leaflet. In Brunei the Tank 500 is sold as a hybrid only, in a single HEV Ultra trim.

Haval H7 Hi4 Ultra

The Haval H7 Hi4 Ultra is announced for Brunei at B$42,900 but has not yet launched. It will be the most powerful GWM hybrid here on paper: GWM's Hi4 system pairs a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine with two electric motors for a combined 340 kW and 760 Nm, with all-wheel drive, per GWM Brunei's flyer. A 2.0 litre petrol H7 Ultra, also all-wheel drive, will sell alongside it at B$39,900.

No plug required

Every car in GWM's hybrid line-up in Brunei is a self-charging hybrid. The petrol engine and regenerative braking keep the battery charged, the car switches between petrol and electric power on its own, and it is refuelled at a normal pump with no charging point needed at home. Buyers who want to charge from a socket are looking at a different category: GWM's plug-in hybrid in Brunei is the Wey 80 PHEV, a separate model outside this line-up.

The catch: the H6 hybrid gives up all-wheel drive

The petrol H6 FL 2.0T and the H6 FL HEV are the same price, B$39,900, but they are not the same car underneath. The petrol version is all-wheel drive, while the hybrid drives the front wheels only, both dealer-confirmed. At equal money, the choice in the H6 range is hybrid efficiency or all-wheel drive, not both. For most Brunei driving front-wheel drive costs little, but buyers picking the hybrid for fuel savings should know the drivetrain changes with it. The GWM hybrid that will offer both is the H7 Hi4 Ultra, once it launches.

PMV Brunei 2026: the official dealer price list

The latest edition is the "PASSENGER MOTOR VEHICLES (PMV) PRICES ISSUED BY CAR DEALERS AS OF 20TH AUGUST 2026", a list issued every quarter. Treat it as a reference point, not the price you will pay: dealers almost always have promotions running, so actual selling prices differ from the printed figures, and the models on the list can lag the showroom as new models arrive and others are discontinued. Our full guide to reading the PMV Brunei 2026 list explains what to check before relying on any figure in it.
